Need Advice Before Crossing the Border

Hi all, I’m planning to visit Mexico next month and recently heard about mexican auto insurance for tourists. Apparently, my U.S. insurance might not cover accidents there, which surprised me. I want to make sure I follow the rules and stay protected while driving during my trip. If anyone here has experience with driving in Mexico, did you buy this type of insurance beforehand? How expensive was it and was the process simple? I’d really appreciate some guidance.
