ゲストHi-Lo Premium is played using an extremely small deck. Only a single suit is chosen, with the 10 Card removed from play. Players must guess whether the next card will be higher, lower, or the same as the base Snap card. Tip: Players don’t show their hands to anyone else until they reach the showdown. Even if another player is out, it’s best to keep your cards a secret. You don’t want them to accidentally (or purposely) reveal the value of your cards. This is a fun game to play, but the swings can be enormous. It is also quite a complex game. Let’s just hit some high points to make you comfortable if you decide to sit in a game. Zac: So, let’s get into some specific strategies for Hi Lo games. On the previous podcast, we gave everyone an introduction. Today, let’s dig into Big O, and let’s dig into PLO8, and let’s dig into some specific strategies and tips that you would have for players who are starting to play those games and wanting to build an edge. And I guess, starting with PLO8, and let’s just start with opening hands, because that’s where we always start. What kind of opening hands are we looking to play on an ABC kind of just getting started strategy?

So, I set up a test of three Hi-Lo variations—Wong’s, Braun’s, and my own (developed via the “Algebraic Approximation” method). I ran off 500 million hands of each strategy with a flat bet in single-deck games with Vegas Strip rules, using all indices between –15 and +15. This simulation comparison, which totaled 1.5 billion hands, may have been the lengthiest computer simulation of casino blackjack ever attempted for the purpose of answering a single question. I was able to make a simulation of the game and the strategies in Python very easily, which provided interesting results for probabilities of lower scores, but because the probability of getting all 51 is correct is so low it doesn’t converge meaningfully for higher scores even after millions of trials. I’m taking a stand that this pay table is in error. For one thing, the mirror opposite bet of under 10 pays 1.3. For another, you can see in the screenshot at the top of the page that the win offered for higher than 4 is 1.3. Finally, I played until the situation occurred, and I was paid 1.3x. So please do not write to me about this. -
