3. MAC Fluidline: What would a post about black liners be without mentioning MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack? It’s the gold standard of gel liners, the one that most makeup artists and many of my friends swear by. I do think it’s pretty great, though I have smudging after about 10-12 hours. So, for me this is a night out liner, not great for a full day at work. These pencils come in both matte and shimmer finishes, in every color from basic black to bright teal. And most importantly, they’re also waterproof and smudge-proof for up to 24 hours. This gel liner is loved for its smooth application, bold colour and ability to last all day without smudging. It won’t tug at your eye area (hence the name), and stays waterproof for even up to 12 hours. An eyeliner that stays put in the waterline is one of the hardest makeup items to find. Sure they all say they’re waterproof, or wear for 12 hours, but do they really? I put 8 eyeliner pencils to the test to see which wears best in the waterline, which is easiest to apply, and which wears best on the eyelid. The results show once again that more expensive doesn’t necessarily equal best product.
